and engage in local cross-cultural ministries

Since its beginning, GLEC's purpose has been aiming to start ministries in countries which had gone through rapid changes or societal transitions such as Russia, Hungary, Serbia, China, Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. Because of the changes in these countries, we had the opportunity to preach the Gospel in a timely manner and witness people there transformed by the good news. We started to cultivate leaders and plant local reproducible churches to for the needs of pastoral ministry among the believers. Before the rise of local church leaders, GLEC sent long-term missionaries to shepherd the local churches. Once the local church leaders are mature and ready, the church leadership responsibilities have been handed over to local trained pastors and GLEC continue to support and mentor the local churches to engage in cross-cultural missions. For instance, in Russia since GLEC had succeeded the Chinese church ministry at Moscow, the training of local church leaders was one of the primary goals. The Global Enrichment Theological Seminary (former name of Global Mission Seminary) was founded for this purpose. After four years of training, many graduates started to serve in the capacity of church pastors. In 2012, after six years of ministry experience, four of them were officially ordained and became the primary leaders of the Chinese Church of Moscow. Currently, the Chinese church of Moscow has over 300 Chinese church members and oversees seven parish regions in Russia. In addition, there is a separate Russian speaking service for local Russian congregation and second generation Chinese-Russians.

The case in Eastern Europe is very similar. GLEC started seminary training at Budapest, Hungary and trained local pastoral co-workers. In Serbia, GLEC established Chinese Church of Belgrade. And this church had become independent in financial and administrative structure in a few years. Moreover, they have extended the evangelistic and pastoral ministry to other surrounding countries and Roma people group as well. In Myanmar, GLEC succeeds in various ministries in 2008. The government started to allow and welcome foreign investment and other exchanges later. In the same manner, we conduct seminary training for training of the local pastors. Currently, there are 39 churches and 56 full-time Gospel workers in our structure. Our church ministries are in Chinese, Burmese, and Dai languages.

Due to the special situations in these countries, we don't always have the freedom to do direct evangelism. Instead we take other creative approaches as stated in Colossians 1:28: "We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” Thus, through the work missions, education, and charity we share the Gospel and reach out to people. In a country like Myanmar with very strong Buddhist background, we reach out to people thru various charity ministries such as leasing service of hogs, sewing machines, well digging, drug-addict rehabilitation, and children centers. In Moscow, short-term mission teams from many different countries would gather for the May 1st Gospel Camp to reach out the overseas Chinese college students. Our vision is to bring the abundant life of Jesus Christ to people, family, community, and the world through the work of mission, education, and charity. In Serbia, we established a local kindergarten so we can reach out to the young parents. We also send out English teaching teams to Taiwan and mainland China to reach out to younger generation for evangelism purpose. In Kyrgyzstan, we have engaged in the work of International University of Central Asia which is established by Central Asia Sharing Aid. Our goal is to bring transformation to this country through the sharing of the Gospel among college students. In Eastern Europe, we started to work among Roma people through agricultural support, music ministry, and primary education for their needs and to bring the abundant life of Jesus Christ to people, family, community, and the world.
